National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Oslo
This popular attraction in Oslo is the haven for everything to do with art. It is Oslo’s national museum of art with three different sections for contemporary art, architecture, and design. A day well-spent inside this museum will show you Norway’s deep-rooted relation with art of all forms.
Established in 2003, the National Museum of Art, Architecture, and Design is Norway’s largest gallery of art. The museum has several exhibitions as a part of their permanent collection and also holds temporary exhibitions frequently. It aims at conserving public knowledge while making it accessible to everyone. The different sections of this museum are:
1. The National Gallery and Museum of Contemporary Art – a place that combines old and modern art wide a comprehensive collection of paintings and sculptures that date back to the 19th century.
2. The National Museum of Architecture – Consists of two buildings with contributions from two separate architects – Christian H. Grosch and Sverre Fehn.
3. The Museum of Decorative Arts and Design – Features hundred year old work of crafts, a ceramic art collection, and exhibits of fashion.
