Natural History Museum

If you want to learn more about botanical and zoological history, the Natural History Museum in Oslo is a great place to visit. The museum, which is part of the University of Oslo, is located at Tøyen, and consists of both indoor and outdoor exhibitions. The museum is open from Monday to Sunday, but the opening hours vary between the Botanical Gardens, the Greenhouses and the Zoological Museum.
The National History Museum includes the Botanical Gardens that was founded as a part of the university in 1814, and the museum buildings for zoology and botany at Tøyen. The museum opens the doors to the largest collection of natural object displayed at the garden, the Zoological Museum, and the greenhouses, Palmehuset and Victoriahuset. The Botanical Garden has a newly added exhibit called The Climate House that focus on spreading awareness about environment issues. The Zoological Museum has both permanent and changing exhibitions of wildlife including a life-size exhibit of a beaver dam. There are also exhibits of the arctic wildlife and African rainforests. Entry is free on Thursdays for everyone, as well as for school visits and children below 6 years.
