A historic walk along Akerselva, Oslo’s Green Lung, is not only pleasing, but also truly serene! Book this sightseeing trip by Oslo Guidebureau today!

Imagine a trip that takes you through picturesque trails to give you a deep insight into Oslo’s history! One such trip is the Green Walking guided tour along the banks of Akerselva while learning about the area’s transformation. This and much more awaits you in Oslo Guidebureau’s historic riverwalk trip, that is curated for the explorer in you!

Meet your guide in central Oslo at 2:00 pm, from where you will embark on a 2-hour sightseeing tour to Akerselva, the cradle of Norway’s industrialisation. The river cuts through the centre of the city, from Maridalsvannet Lake to Oslofjord, covering a stretch of 8 km. Going around the Opera House, you will be taken through Grønland where the core of the city’s historical evolution is based.

One of the eye-catching locations in this trip is Akerselva's most spectacular waterfall, located by the Beier Bridge. You will also get to see gems like the Fairy Tale Bridge and further tread along waterfalls, forested areas, swimming spots, and fishing grounds. Walk at your own pace and have fun exploring the numerous parks, open spaces, and former factories that have been converted into art galleries and café spaces.

This guided tour is not just about sightseeing as it also focuses on the changes along the river from the industrial roots through to its cultural significance today. From the scenic beauty of the river and its surroundings, you will hardly be able to tell that it was once the hub of industrial discharges. This tremendous change was the result of a local initiative to reduce emissions and revive the area’s flora and fauna.

Learn more about this significant turning point in Oslo’s history from your tour guide, who is eloquent in both Norwegian and English. At the end of the tour, you'll stop for a bite at Mathallen, a gourmet food court with a wealth of Norwegian and international offerings like seafood, hams, cheeses, and more. This activity is suitable for children, teenagers, and adults, and will have a maximum of 20 travellers per session.
