On the day of the biking tour, be at the meeting point at least by 1:45 pm, as the adventure will start by sharp 2:00 pm. Your guide for the day will give you a quick briefing before leading the group into wide-open vistas.
The 12-km ride will begin from Akershusstranda. Enjoy the fresh sea breeze on your face and watch the jaw-dropping sceneries unfold as you bike along the gorgeous blue fjord. You will first stop at the fascinating Akershus Festning and get a chance to stroll about the castle walls.
After spending enough time revelling in the architectural marvel of the fortress, the group will cycle to The City Hall where Nobel Peace Prize ceremonies are conducted. If it is during the visiting hours, you can also take a sneak peek of the hall. Next on your sightseeing itinerary would be the Karl Johans Gate and the impressive Royal Palace gardens. A hill leads you to the Royal Palace, so get ready to cycle uphill for about a minute or two. The Royal Palace gardens have perfectly manicured grass, tall trees, and a string of statues of royals carved by renowned sculptors.
Your next stop will also have more than 200 sculptures! The Frogner Park is located about 2.5 km from the Royal Palace. Spend time looking at the beautiful installations by Gustav Vigeland and later at the Frogner neighbourhood, which is famous for its neo-classical architecture. Admire the beauty of the wharfhouses as you ride towards the harbour-side of Tjuvholmen/Aker Brygge. If the weather permits, you can even take a dip and have some fun time with the group! Once you’re back on the shore, you can take your bikes across quaint streets towards Akershusstranda, the endpoint of the tour.
The tour is much more than just sightseeing. Your experienced guide will tell you stories related to Norwegian folklore and politics to give you a better insight into the cultural heritage of the city. Also, there is no specific fitness level to book this tour. All are welcome!
To make the most of your bike adventure, wear weather-appropriate clothing. You can buy rain ponchos from the organizers on rainy days. There are public toilets located about 50 meters away from the tour departure point.
Pick-up: We are located in the DFDS boat terminal building, with entrance on the side of the terminal building.
