Established in 2003, the National Museum of Art, Architecture, and Design is Norway’s largest gallery of art. The museum has several exhibitions as a part of their permanent collection and also holds temporary exhibitions frequently. It aims at conserving public knowledge while making it accessible to everyone. The different sections of this museum are:
1. The National Gallery and Museum of Contemporary Art – a place that combines old and modern art wide a comprehensive collection of paintings and sculptures that date back to the 19th century.
2. The National Museum of Architecture – Consists of two buildings with contributions from two separate architects – Christian H. Grosch and Sverre Fehn.
3. The Museum of Decorative Arts and Design – Features hundred year old work of crafts, a ceramic art collection, and exhibits of fashion.
